I greatly appreciate your initiative in taking a separate sample. Please collect any other ‘oil shows’ that may eventuate and keep frozen. You can send them with the frozen drilling mud samples when all sampling has been completed. Please note the occurrence of an oil show at circa 1505m. From my ancient memory there was a similar oil show at a somewhat similar depth on the Curdie No.1 well (about 4km? from this well). Chris - we have a sample of the cuttings sealed in a tin in the freezer - there was no gas increase at all associated with it - you should however be able to extract enough oil for an analysis from the cuttings - please advise me if you want the sample sent.
